About Tamba Sasayama

It is a rural area, yes, but not just an ordinary countryside! This region, steeped in history, has thrived as a significant transportation hub for travelers en route to Kyoto. As a result, it has had a significant cultural influence on the local townscape and the festivals celebrated here.

In the year 2000, the merger of four towns gave rise to the present-day Tamba Sasayama City, encompassing a vast expanse of land. Despite the merger, the distinct history and traditions of each region have been preserved, allowing visitors to experience their unique local characteristics that have endured through the years.
