2024 Walla Walla Sister City Project ⑦

19/10/2024

It's been a week since the arrival of the visiting delegation, and today is the day of the farewell party. Yesterday, they toured an elementary school in the city, enjoyed lunch there, and in the afternoon, they went to a high school to interact with students and participate in club activities. Afterwards, they even made wagashi (Japanese sweets)! I want to try that too! 😆

Today's farewell party was very casual and enjoyable. After greetings from the guests, we had a simple buffet-style lunch. Host families and people connected to the delegation were invited to spend time together before their return. Although it rained, everyone's spirits were high, and we had a wonderful time.

After the party, we visited another person (another family) that the guest wanted to meet. Currently, it's the black bean harvest season in Tamba Sasayama, and the farmers are quite busy, but the whole family welcomed us warmly. Throughout his stay, he met many wonderful people, all of whom were very kind and warm-hearted. I'm sure there are wonderful people like this on the American side too, and it's these lovely individuals from both countries who have built this beautiful bond.

After returning home, we started packing for departure, and in the evening, we enjoyed chatting with John over a glass of wine. Time flies, and there are only two days left. However, since we need to gather early on the day of departure, we effectively have just one more day. I hope they enjoy every moment until the end!
