A guest family from our sister city, Walla Walla, Washington!
From October 12 to 23, a delegation from Walla Walla, Washington, USA, came to visit Japan!
After a 20-hour traveling time, they finally arrived!
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the exchange!
If you think about it, children born in the first year are now 50 years old.
Some Sasayama people say, "I was an exchange student in XX year." or "I went to Walla Walla City as a delegation of XX year"
The people of both cities have deepened their exchange for such a long time.
Even from our perspective as newcomers, we can see the deep bonds and friendships that have been nurtured between the people of the two cities.
When the members of the delegation arrived at the city hall and got off the bus, they were greeted with welcoming cheers from the Sasayama people, to which Walla Walla team returned big smiles!
During their stay, they will participate in events, visits, and activities the city hall prepared on weekdays and weekends will be spent with host families.
Our guests this time were a family of four from this delegation.
They were parents and two boys aged 13 and 16.
We received their wishes on where they wanted to go, what they wanted to eat, what they wanted to do, etc. through e-mail exchanges before their visit to Japan, such as...
□ Go to the Pokemon Center in Osaka.
□ Eat real Japanese ramen noodles.
□ Buy some Japanese whiskey to take home
□ Go to a cat café in Sasayama.
□ Buy a kimono or yukata
□ Go to a sushi restaurant
□ Eat sushi etc.
I wonder what the next 12 days will be like.
So excited and curious!
Welcome to Tamba Sasayama!
Welcome to our house!
