Harvesting Edamame and Eating Ramen!
On the second day of the visit of a delegation from our sister city in the U.S., Walla Walla, WA, we had the opportunity to experience harvesting black edamame beans, which are in season now.
The foreigners residing in the city also joined in the experience so that the guest family can feel relaxed during their stay, .
At 10:30 a.m., when everyone gathered, we asked each person to introduce himself/herself, and after a little introduction talk about black soy beans and edamame, we headed to a farmer's field in the neighborhood!
The weather was beautiful and the walk was pleasant.
The farmer and his family welcomed us warmly.
Some of the participants were experienced who had done the harvesting several times in the past, and the work proceeded smoothly.
Under the farmer's guidance, the participants used big scissors (?) to chop the edamame plants!
Then the harvested edamame plants are now by the field, and everyone took the beans from the branches.
Everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun under the blue sky😍.
After the experience was over, we went home and immediately boiled the edamame, fresh from the field, in salted water and tasted it!
Mmmm, it's always good no matter how many times I eat it 😊.
Now with a great appetizer everyone is hungry...
So today's lunch was ramen at Ramen restaurant called Kibo-ken!
"Oh, Japanese ramen!"
"Oishii!"
"And so cheap!" (maybe because of the weak Japanese yen?)
All the guests were very happy😍🤤.
There are so many kinds of ramen!🍜
I hope we can try other kinds too before you go back to the US!
