Sweet Reactions from Our Guests!
We have received sweet reactions from our guests, who stayed with us during Golden Week holiday (at the beginning of May).
This time, not only from mothers, but the 10-year-old girl with pictures as well!
We are happy to be able to share the happy memories with you all!
And THANK YOU for taking taking time to write these reviews!🥰
We Enjoyed the Nature!
Tamba Sasayama was closer than expected.
Lots of nature, blessed with good weather during the Golden Week!
Although I was living a life completely detached from English and I was nervous, but by using Japanese plus some English words I know, I was able to enjoy the conversation to some extent. I took my 1-year-old child and went to the nearby temple with her on the stroller. The air is so fresh, and you can go for a nice walk taking different routes! I'd like to come back during the seasons of autumn leaves or cherry blossoms.
We Had a Great Golden Week!
I was wondering where to go during Golden Week this year. Since my 10pyear-old daughter had just started learning English, and something clicked with me, so I chose this host family intuitively.
I thought, "These people must have BIG hearts to accommodate a group of 9 people from 3 families (3 adult women + 6 children aged 1-10)," and I was immediately convinced when we met them!
I was worried about how the children would manage in an unfamiliar, English-speaking environment, but I felt reassured by the warm smiles of John and Yoko.
Since we had a large group of children and didn't make any plans, we just spent the days as we pleased...waking up when we wanted, and eating whatever we felt like. It was so relaxing.
I was afraid we might not have much interaction with the hosts, but during afternoon chill time, John timely brought out English cards and games to play with the children.
After the children had played a lot outside, catching insects and playing with chickens, their minds were really stimulated, and they seemed to have quickly felt comfortable.
The children even requested to have more English time with John the next day,
.
Meanwhile, the little ones were having a lot of fun playing with Yoko.
Although it was a short stay, the parents were able to refresh themselves with the mountain scenery, the children had a unique experience different from their usual trips, and we created enjoyable family memories.
I was especially surprised by the children's adaptability to the natural and English environment.
Imagining how wonderful they could become if they could live like this every day. I reluctantly returned to my everyday life of hurry and rush as a working parent. But I hope we can all visit John and Yoko again.
Thank you very much.
My First Homestay
(by the 10 year-old girl, see the photos )
During the Golden Week holiday, I went on a homestay at a house where foreigners were living, in the rural town of Tamba Sasayama with my family and relatives.
At first, I was worried about the bugs since it was a rural area, but I gradually got used to them and even tried to catch butterflies with a net.
My family had come by train, then a person named "John" came to pick us up from the station.
When I arrived at the house, a person named "Yoko" told me "We have chickens!" so I went to see them, and there were 4 of them.
At first, I was afraid of the chickens, but my cousin was holding them, so I tried to hold them too. I couldn't do it at first, but my cousin said he wanted to take one home, he had grown so fond of them.
A tour of the large two-story house was given, and we were allowed to use two of the rooms.
Since I am shy, I was just zoning out, but then John brought out some English games for us to play, which helped me get to know him better.
On the second day, we went to the park that Yoko recommended, and when we came back, we played games again and had a lot of fun.
On the third day, we went to the same park again and played badminton a lot.
The park was called "Dinosaur Park", and there were moving, talking dinosaurs, which the dinosaur-loving cousin was very excited about. But just when I thought we were going back to John's house, it was time to say goodbye.
Though it was just a short 2 nights 3 day trip, the time living with the foreigners was so enjoyable that I was speaking a little English on the day I returned home.
It was a fun experience that gave me many fun memories.
