Tamba Tea Festival
The festival will be held on Saturday, June 1st.
It is a very local festival, yet there are many tea-related things to experience such as tea ceremony, make your own green tea, and Koto / Shakuhachi performance at the Daikokuji temple. There are shuttle bus service from JR Sasayamaguchi station.
Please see the details here, and the shuttle bus schedule here
My personal recommendations are:
★10:00-10:30 Tamba Tea Urn and Komusos (Zen monks) procession
★Tea picking and Hand-kneading experience (charged, 10am – 4pm)
Note: This takes long time, so you should try first thing in the morning, after the procession!
★Koto and Shakuhachi performance
★Tea ceremony at Peter Hammn's house.
⚠️
Caution!⚠️
1) If you come by car, usually the parking is quite full. Early birds get worms!
2) There are food stalls but each amount is not so big. You might want to bring some food with you!
3) Each venue are spread in the village and it takes some walk to get one to another, so be ready to have a good walk🚶
