What is Tohaku?

13/02/2024

The other day, I read in a news article on the Internet that something called a "Tohaku (pottery stay)" is about to start in Konda-cho.
Hmm? What's that? Well, are you interested?
By the way, this is NOT our homestay program, just to make sure!

Tachikui, Konda-cho is the home of Tamba-yaki pottery. Apparently this is a program where you can stay at a potter's house, experience pottery making, and even get a guided tour of the area.

The application period has started in February!
The number of participants is limited to 1 group (up to 3 people) per month!

"Wow! It's such a slim chance!",  you might think.

However, just like a lottery ticket, you cannot win unless you buy one (or apply for one)!

Below is the basic program schedule:
April 8 (Monday) to 9 (Tuesday) *Application period: Feb.1 - Feb.26
May 15 (Wednesday) - 16 (Tuesday) *Application period: Mar.1 - Apr.3
June 26 (Wednesday) - 27 (Thursday) *Application period: Apr.1 - May 14
*Selection by Lottery

If you are interested, please click here for more details.
And here are the details of the 2-day/1-night plan and how to apply.
(information available only in Japanese)

We hope to see more attempts like this in the future!
There are various artisans living in Sasayama.

We receive homestays because we want people to fall in love with this land and the people who live here, as we did 12 years ago.
Not only this city is blessed with nature, delicious food, history, and various crafts, but most of all, people here are just so kind and warm!

Spring break is coming soon!🌸🌸🌸

We look forward to seeing you all! 🥰
